Profile
Mr. Gareth Bern is a Head of Fixed Income at M&G Investment Managers (Pty) Ltd. He joined M&G Investments in 2004 as a Credit Analyst, then progressed to Head of Fixed Income in 2018, and in January 2024 took on the role of Chief Investment Officer for Fixed Income.
Mr. Bern is also a member of the M&G Executive Committee.
He is also a Portfolio Manager adn is responsible for overseeing M&G Investments’ fixed income institutional mandates.
He has 18 years of industry experience.
Prior to joining Prudential, Mr. Bern completed his articles at Ernst & Young and qualified as a CA (SA) in 2003.
After spending part of 2004 working in the asset management division of Ernst & Young’s New York office, he returned to South Africa and joined Prudential.
He holds both a Bachelor of Business in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Accounting from University of Cape Town.
He is a CA and Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.
