Joe Held

Before joining Standard & Poor, Mr. Held was the vice president of Technology Services at Hartford Life Insurance, reporting to the CIO, responsible for setting the technology strategy for the individual Annuity business in Japan.
He was also the executive responsible for Investment Technology Services at Hartford Life for five years, where he established an industry-leading technology service for the Annuity and Mutual Funds lines of businesses.
He worked at CIGNA HealthCare from 1995 to 1997 as the assistant vice president of Application and Information Architecture and worked in a variety of IT roles for several Aetna Life and Casualty businesses from 1983.
At Aetna, he led the delivery of expert systems to support a new generation of Aetna health insurance products and was a co-recipient of a technology patent for expert systems.
He also worked in Aetna's Diversified Business division supporting a partnership with MIT in developing satellite communication systems.
Mr. Held has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University and has conducted graduate work at University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
