Holtzbrinck Digital is an active, long-term manager which invests in profitable B2C companies with a good market position and an established turnover, with a particular interest in the e-commerce, online portals, online classifieds, online subscription and e-travel business areas. They mainly invest in companies in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Eastern Europe, but invest in other European countries when the opportunity fits the business models of their existing holdings. The firm prefers to take majority positions in investee companies, but also considers minority stakes if the investment can be considered strategic. They act as a partner to their investee companies, leaving investee company management the freedom to develop the business. They normally are not formally active, but are always available to provide support to create cross-media synergies between investee businesses and the other activities of the Holtzbrinck Publishing group. Holtzbrinck Networks makes strategic investments for the Holtzbrinck Publishing group and therefore do not seek exits.
