Arner has been Interim General Counsel for Biogen IDEC, Inc. since June 2005.
He was Vice President and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel of Biogen, Inc. from 2003 to 2005.
He joined Biogen, Inc. as Associate General Counsel in 1999.
From 1994 to 1999, he was Vice President of Global Intellectual Property for Pharmacia & Upjohn Company.
From 1994 to 1995, he was Vice President for the Corporate Intellectual Property Department of The Upjohn Company.
From 1991 to 1994, he was Associate General Counsel and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel for DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Company.
From 1986 to 1991, he was an Associate of Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis.
He received a BS and a JD from Temple University.
