Ms. Steelman is currently serving as a professor of political science at Missouri State University.
She recently finished a four year term as State Treasurer of Missouri serving as the 44th State Treasurer after having been elected in 2004.
As Missouri Treasurer, Ms. Steelman was responsible for the management of more than $19 billion in Missouri's annual revenue and managed the investment of over $3 billion in long and short-term investments in the state's portfolio.
In 1998 and 2002, she was elected to serve as the Senator for the 16th State Senatorial District.
Ms. Steelman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Missouri in Columbia.
