McHugh seeks domestic, high-quality growth companies with superior management, consistent and predictable earnings growth, reasonable prices and a strong global presence. Companies must also dominate their industry or market niche, show impressive returns on invested capital, demonstrate superior operating margins and have a strong balance sheet. Their buy and hold philosophy has produced an excellent long-term record without incurring the extra costs of frequent transactions and taxes. Less than 1% of the companies McHugh screens meet the firm's investment standards. They invest in companies with: (1) better than 12% earnings growth (2) at least 15% ROE (3) consistent earnings increases (4) mid-to-large market cap and (5) more cash flow than needed to reinvest in the business. Companies are analyzed using proprietary research.
