Takahiro Hoshino

Mr. Hoshino was appointed as an advisor to Advantage Advisors in April 2022 and is responsible for providing management advice to portfolio companies.
After graduating from university, he worked at the Institute of Statistical Mathematics, the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tokyo, and the Graduate School of Economics at Nagoya University before being becoming professor of economics at Keio University.
His previous roles also include guest researcher at the University of Chicago and guest researcher at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
He serves as chairman of the Association of Behavioral Economics and Finance and is a board member of the Japan Institute of Marketing Science.
In 2017, he was awarded the JPSP Prize from Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, which is the most prestigious award from the government for researchers under the age of 45.
He has also received numerous other awards including the Research Achievement Award from Japan Statistical Society.
In addition to his roles as Director of the Institute for Economic Studies at Keio University and leader of the economic and management information fusion analysis team at RIKEN’s AIP Center, he provides expertise in statistics, behavioral economics, and marketing as a technological advisor to various companies including CyberAgent, Money Forward, and Yahoo R&D Center.
In June 2020, he co-founded Economics Design Inc., a company which applies economic theories to businesses, with Professor Toyotaka Sakai of Keio University and Professor Yosuke Yasuda of Osaka University and was appointed director of the company.
He received a Ph.D.
from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tokyo.
