BNP Paribas leverages subsidiaries to launch private debt unit-linked vehicle
Insurer BNP Paribas Cardif, BNP Paribas Banque Privée France, and BNP Paribas Asset Management Alts (BNPP AM Alts) are launching a new unit-linked (UL) offering backed by private corporate debt, primarily from European companies. The vehicle is available within life insurance, capitalization, and retirement savings contracts for individual investors seeking long-term investment opportunities.
This new unit-linked support allows BNP Paribas Cardif and BNP Paribas Banque Privée to strengthen the range of wealth management products offered to their clients by providing access to an asset class usually reserved for institutional investors. It invests in unlisted companies, mostly European, characterized by solid financial structures.
Launched on May 18, 2026, exclusively for French clients of BNP Paribas Banque Privée until September 1, 2026, this new unit-linked vehicle is available through a private debt-focused fund, Alts Europe Private Credit Fund (Alts EPC). The fund is managed by BNPP AM Alts, a leading alternative asset manager in Europe with 300 billion euros in assets under management.
Invested primarily in the private debt of European companies, either directly or via specialized entities or funds, Alts EPC maintains a portion of liquid assets (listed debt instruments and cash) to meet liquidity needs and enhance portfolio diversification. Compliant with the new ELTIF regulation, this alternative investment fund supports the financing of long-term projects and aims to accompany the growth of unlisted companies in their development projects, mainly through private debt investments, thereby contributing to the financing of the real economy.
The fund aims to build a diversified portfolio of loans to SMEs and mid-caps operating in sectors considered non-cyclical, with operating results ranging between 10 million and 100 million euros, though this does not constitute a management constraint.
The Fund offers subscription and redemption windows every 15 days, including a maximum redemption percentage mechanism set at 20% of the sum of liquid assets and expected cash flows. The recommended minimum investment horizon is seven years.
Benefiting from the expertise of BNPP AM Alts, a player in private debt for over 25 years with 135 billion euros in assets under management for its alternative credit platform, the fund will offer immediate exposure to a diversified portfolio of existing loans.
'Private debt is a fundamental building block for individual investors' exposure to unlisted assets. This new fund, in partnership with BNP Paribas Cardif and BNP Paribas Banque Privée, expands BNPP AM Alts' offering for individual clients across the entire scope of private markets, from real assets to private credit. With the launch of this new evergreen ELTIF 2.0 product, which allows individual investors to access assets historically reserved for institutional clients, we are pleased to strengthen our range and enable retail savers to participate in financing the real economy,' commented Christophe Fritsch, Global Head of Alternative Credit at BNP Paribas Asset Management Alts.
