May 19 (Reuters) - British homebuilder Crest Nicholson said on Tuesday it would delay its half-year results to July 16 as it continues discussion with lenders for a temporary relaxation of its banking covenants.

The builder, which had slashed its annual profit forecast as interest-rate pressures and rising building costs depress sentiment in the housing market, had warned in January that it may breach its interest-cover covenant as early as April in case of a severe downturn.

Crest said discussions with lenders were "progressing constructively" and are expected to conclude by mid-July.
