Dr. Silverstein, a general partner with Frazier Healthcare since 1994, is a distinguished academic physician with significant industry and entrepreneurial experience.
He evaluates and monitors medical device companies and the clinically oriented aspects of healthcare service companies.
Dr. Silverstein also leads Frazier Healthcare's intellectual property assessment.
Since joining Frazier Healthcare, he has played a key role in establishing and seeding several companies, including XenoPort, Inc. and Calypso Medical Technologies.
As a former professor at the University of Washington Medical Center, he authored 135 medical papers and received several teaching awards.
Dr. Silverstein was also Squibb Medical Systems' Senior Director of Medical Affairs and New Market Development (at Advanced Technology Laboratories) and has consulted for such companies as Searle, SmithKline Beecham and Fuji Photo Optical.
He holds more than 30 U.S.
patents and has founded two medical device companies, Vision Sciences and Lucent Medical Systems.
Dr. Silverstein has an M.D.
from Columbia University and is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
Dr. Silverstein currently serves on Ascension Orthopedics, Inc. board.
In addition, he has served on the boards of Aradigm, Inc., Focal, Inc. Lucent Biomedical and Point BioMedical, Inc.
