Dr. Joseph Loscalzo, MD PhD, is Advisor at Mi3 Venture Partners Management LLC. He is the Wade Professor and Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Professor of Biochemistry, and Director of the Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute at Boston University School of Medicine, as well as Physician-in-Chief at Boston Medical Center. He is a founder of NitroMed, Inc., serves on its Board of Directors and chairs its Scientific Advisory Board. In 2004, he became Editor-in-Chief of Circulation, a leading cardiology scientific journal. Dr. Loscalzo received his A.B. degree, summa cum laude, his Ph.D. in biochemistry, and his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He joined the Harvard faculty and staff at Brigham and Women's Hospital in 1984. He joined the faculty of Boston University in 1994, first as Chief of Cardiology and, in 1997, Chair of Medicine. Dr. Loscalzo is the immediate past Chair of the Cardiovascular Board of the American Board of Internal Medicine and immediate past Chair of the Board of Scientific Counselors of the NHLBI. He has been a Visiting Professor at many institutions and has authored or co-authored more than 400 scientific publications and 20 books. He is also the recipient of many grants from the NIH and industry for his work in the areas of vascular biology, thrombosis, and atherosclerosis over the past twenty years.
